The Reverend Kerra Becker English, our pastor, has brought fresh and imaginative approaches to worship as well as infectious enthusiasm to our planning process. She joined our church as pastor in June, 2012.
Pastor Kerra received her master of divinity degree from Union Presbyterian Seminary in 1996. She has also received her certification in Spiritual Guidance from the RUAH School of Spiritual Direction and currently offers spiritual guidance on an individual basis.
Before becoming Ashland Presbyterian Church’s pastor, she served as pastor of churches in Altoona, Pennsylvania and Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
Kerra’s husband, Chuck, son Cade and daughter Ryleigh are part of our church family as well.
Kerra is available for celebrating your life event needs whether or not you are a church member: conducting weddings and officiating memorial services at Ashland Presbyterian Church and in the greater metro-Richmond area. Pastor Kerra welcomes you to plan your celebration with her regardless of your religious preferences (interfaith or spiritually seeking) or identities of the partners (LGBTQ weddings welcome).
Secretary and Treasurer
Susan is an indispensable whirlwind, handling people, phone calls and paperwork with warmth, efficiency and aplomb. She’s been with us for over twenty years and we really couldn’t “get it all done” without her!
Karla has been with us for more than 20 years. Karla has brought both artistry and imagination to our music program, as well as a remarkable ability to bring out the highest level of talent from each choir member. Her Bachelor of Science & Arts degree in musical education is from C.W. Post College. Karla serves, also, as conductor of the Hanover Concert Band.
Austin joined the Ashland Presbyterian Church family in November 2017. He is a graduate of Randolph-Macon College where he completed his music major, and was part of the music fraternity Mu Phi Epsilon. Austin is also a member of the American Guild of Organists. In Fall 2020, he continues to deepen his Christian education at Union Presbyterian Seminary.
Sam Zeigler (she/her) is our Union Presbyterian Seminary intern who gets to experience all the strangeness of starting with us in the Fall of 2020 online from a small town in Ohio near Kent State University. She is a 2018 graduate of Westminster College (PA) with a BA in French and a music minor. She brings to us a passion for music, art, and reading. Let’s welcome her online with the hope that we will get to meet her in person in 2021!
